True Dat

“Opportunity is missed by most people because it comes dressed in overalls and looks like work.”
- Thomas Edison

Nat Gas

The media has widely recognized the huge rally in oil for a while now.. probably because of its relationship to the Iraq story.
But natural gas has made an equally huge move, in shorter time, with less fanfare. Nat gas was in the $6’s in May.. Now in the $14’s.
The rally has happened so quickly, utlity […]

More Downside, Por Favor

The Dow was up 50 points at the open. Woo-hoo.
Look at the Advance/Decline readings in this chart.. it’s slid from +1700 to -900 this morning.
That’s a lot of stocks going from up to down on the day in just 2 hours. Basically, the eager-beaver buyers are having the rug pulled out […]

Don’t PLAYer Hate

As noted last Monday, I am tracking stocks that get hyped on Jim Cramer’s Mad Money show (6pm daily, CNBC).. watching them for pullbacks. He tends to be correct on fundamentals, but I can’t stomach buying something already up 5 or 10% just on his call.
That’s like buying stocks on the morning Saddam got caught […]

Today’s News..

Facts in regular type.. My smack talk in italics.
- The Bucs, Redskins, & my Bengals lost their 1st games of the season.. all 3 were close battles. On the other side of the league, Green Bay wins its first ballgame in impressive fashion, notching 52 points against “everybody’s 2nd favorite team,” the weary New Orleans Saints.
1 […]

What Happened?

Hard liquor stocks FO, STZ, BF have gotten wallopped recently.. BUD & TAP (budweiser & coors) are scrounging about their 52 week lows..
People stop drinking?
Doubt it. Maybe switching to wine..
Willamette Valley Vineyards (WVVI) broke out last week, and is now pulling back.. setting up nicely. I’d love to see it chop between $4.50 […]

No Replay

It’s kind of curious:
Most every single person I know participated in the massive tech stock rally in the late 1990’s..
Yet the (almost) equally massive energy stock rally of 2004-05 (which just hit a big bump in the road) has not been that popular a topic.. real estate seems to have cornered our brains.
I’m thinking this […]

Hmm

I’m far from a racist.
But does anyone find it remotely ironic (or comical) that the 2005 Nobel Peace Prize winner is a Middle Eastern man named Mohamed?

Fatal Feline

The monthly gov’t jobs report said we lost jobs net-net during September, the first time that’s happened since May 2003. Unemployment % ticked up to 5.1%. Katrina had a large impact on those numbers.
Some folks certainly like the numbers, and had the DJIA up about 40 just few minutes ago.. though we’re starting to stumble […]
