A Distant Second..

I am managing my homeboys’ annual NFL spread betting competition this year. 7 peeps including me are vying for the title of best pseudo-professional gambler. This is my substitute for the individual statistics-based fantasy football that has become all the rage. Our top prize is up in the 4-digit dollar area for the first time. When our contest originated, NASCAR tickets were the prize :)

We start in Week 2. Senor Gutierrez left us in his wake in this (for us) opening week, wagering the full nut on Jacksonville (+9) and Philly (-13.5). Nice work, mi amigo!

I’m not sure what the allure of the Detroit Lions was this week, but more than one gladiator sure as hell got gored by those big cats.

I appeared to be headed for a big week.. until the Chargers (+3) fell apart & handed me a push at Denver with a bitter 3 point loss. Better than an “L”, I guess… and as it relates to trading — I basically got out of an unplanned situation - a close game (I thought Gates’ presence would assist a blowout) - with minimal damage.
2nd place is a comfortable spot.. for now.

Yours truly here has 1 more bet this week.. tomorrow night.
Yes, I did the unthinkable & wagered against the New Orleans Saints @ the Giants on Monday night.. for the minimum.

Tiki, Eli, Mike Stra.. lets do this!

Long the Barber brothers (but Short their reality show)

in hindsight, that Chargers play was very much a sucker bet. it was just too “obvious”.. my winners typically come from bets that feel difficult to make at the time.

like the Giants tonight :)
